The Dark Knight Over Metropolis storyline originally was published in three parts in three different Superman comic book series in June, 1990.
Adventures of Superman #466 (The Limits of Power) and Action Comics #653 (Love & Death) serve as a prologue to Dark Knight Over Metropolis. In the proceeding story, Intergang undergoes a change in management while Doctor Amanda McCoy confronts Clark Kent with the fact that she knows his secret, and that she now possesses Lex Luthor's Kryptonite ring.
In Dark Knight Over Metropolis, Batman comes to Metropolis investigating the death of Dr. McCoy and teams-up with Superman (the first significant team-up between the two in the Post-Crisis continuity). The ultimate fate of Luthor’s Kryptonite is revealed.
