I started reading comics again around the time of Civil War and recently started collecting some titles. Nearing 2,000 comics.

I’m new on here so I figured I’d do a bit of an intro of myself and my comic book collection for anyone that cares.

I started getting into comics when I was 13 or so like most people. A while back I started getting into comics again and currently I get a fair amount of new books each month. I was mostly into Spider-Man and the X-Men as a kid and both still remain my favorites. When I got back into comics it was a bit before Civil War so when Civil War came out, the amount of titles I got grew.

Recently, I have become more interested into collecting and getting back issues of some of my favorites to try and get complete collections of these titles. Again I haven’t been getting back issues to add to my collection for that long and I’m still looking for a better job so I only have so much money to spend on comics.

My goal right now is getting comics that came out when I was a kid which I loved and got me into comics. My current goal is collecting all of the X-Men vol. 2 title that came out in the 90s. Right now I have a fair amount and I’m going to keep chipping away getting a few each month until I can get every issue. Eventually, I plan on doing that with the Amazing Spider-Man and the Uncanny X-Men titles. It might be too lofty of a dream to get every issue of those two but I want to at least get the issues from the late 80s until now.

I know about the rating system on comics to a degree when it comes to if its near mint, very fine etc but I’m not too particular about that right now. I’m collecting comics because I like to read them and I love the characters. I’m not looking to get comics just because some of them are valuable. I just care that my comics are in pretty good condition meaning no cuts, tears, wrinkles or folds etc. I myself make it a priority to take good care of all my comics. I have been bagging and boarding comics since I have been reading them and I have them all pretty well organized in comic boxes.

So I just wanted to give a bit of info about myself and what I’m looking to do as far as collecting. I’d loved to chat about comics and collecting with anyone that wants to. I talk to some of my buddies that seem interesting in what’s going on with certain characters and the marvel universe but I don’t have any friends that are into comics like I am. I’m going to leave my list of what titles I read each month below for anyone that cares.

My List:

Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men: Legacy, X-Men, Wolverine (still Dark Wolverine), Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Captain America, Invincible Iron Man, Thunderbolts. Just recently added: Daredevil, Fantastic Four and trying New Mutants. Also getting: Shadowland and Avengers Prime.

  • Welcome to the Realm! I have about 10k books, and only go after a handful of series. Other than my subscription to ASM I don't get any other new books. I have actually been spending my time/money on cards right now.

  • Welcome to CBR and thanks for the FR! You got back into comics about a year before I did. I built up a fair amount of titles that interested me in the past year and half. I get some back issues when I can but I am all about the stories too and like to get tpbs when possible for some good titles. Enjoy! Smile

    • Thanks. Looks like we both like some of the same comics. Wolverine is one of my favorites as well. I like your SN, that story arc was GREAT.

    • Thank you as well for the welcome. I have actually been coming to the site for a month or so now but just recently created an account. I have found this site extremely helpful with my collecting. This site is great, I have found all the titles and issues including variants that I have been interested in. Having pictures of each comic really helps me to know which comics I have and which I need as well.

  • Welcome to CBR, this is the coolest site I've found in the last five years. I got back into the comicbook thing about the same time you did. We have the same taste in comic, I was a big X-men fan as well as any other x-title, I'm more into the Avengers now. But welcome

  • hey webhead....welcome! Your story sounds oh so familiar.....I also just found the site not long ago and think it's great! I am currently attempting to fill the older X-men series and Amazing Spider-Man. On the side I am also filling in any X-men or spider-man related titles which is slowly coming along. Good luck on filling your collection!
