Punisher movie-war zone

Okay so today was a blockbuster kinda day and I actually rented The Punisher:War Zone Staring Ray Stevenson. I know, I know I asked myself why?  Nobody has ever got Frank Castle down pat. Dolph Lungrin's punsiher was a sort of glam rock version, and Tom Jane was a bit too pretty. Ray Stevenson though was pretty much the best Frank I have ever seen on the big screen. This was compelete violence from begining to end, full of gore and just ridiculous stuff at times, and that's what made it good. Punisher was killing gangsters left right and centre, nice.  The super villian Jigsaw was done pretty well too, except for the whole recruitment scene that was a bit much and the accents were a little over the top. Funny though I did'nt even really know that the movie had even come out, it must have done at the box office. I don't think this would appeal to very many mainstream movie goers, but I think some Punisher fans might find it entertaining. I liked it, was worth the money I paid to rent it.  There are alot of pretty cool executions going down throughout the movie. No warm and fuzzy back story, just gung ho kicking! Ray Stevenson was dark and vunerable all at the same time, he did justice to the character, it did'nt sux in my humble opinion. Oh and I also rented Role Model which was a comedy and was pretty cute and funny worth checking out.

  • Sounds like it was reasonable.

I think this skipped my radar too. I had a look, but I doesn't appear to be out on DVD in New Zealand yet so I'll have to wait.

  • i would have to agree. Ray Stevenson has been the best Punisher so far. they picked him from his role in the series "Rome". it is hard to find, but i heard it is action packed. But I must say the action in the Punisher was true Punisher. If you have not seen it, I would check it out.

  • I heard so many bad reviews for this saying it was the worst movie ever made, but I am glad that I ignored them and saw it for myself. I think this is the closest we will ever get to Garth Ennis Punisher on film. I nearly pissed myself laughing during the rooftop death. And yes I also agree that Stevenson was a perfect cast.

  • you could also say: it was the first time you could actually feel what the punisher was going through. you could feel his pain.the guns in the movie were off the chain. lots of action.
