Stalking The Unicorn by Mike Resnik

Think 1950's film noir and mix with Gary Larson's Farside. Resnik takes you on a trip though the world, as he puts it, just out of the couner of your eyesight. I picked this book up at the libray on a lark. I know i shouldnt judge a book by its cover but, this one intreged me. A picture of a bogart type, you know trench coat and fidora, in the middle of Times Squares with all sorts of odd cretures and odd things around him. The story begins with a elf with a problem, the unicorn he was guarding has been stolen and he needs help. So he gets the only detective not busy on New Years Eve, John J. Malory. He has until sunrise to find it or his client is going to be killed. I had alot of fun reading this book and look forward to reading the seires. Wickly funny in a twisted way and very interesting characters that you grow to like and hate some too.   RATING 4 of 5

Scarecrow by Matthew Reilly                   What havnt i said about Mr. Reilly that i havnt said before....maybe awesome! Again another book that reads like a movie. Edge of your seat all the way from begining to the end. Any normal person couldnt put it down, even if they wanted to. Shane Scofeild: codename Scarecrow, What is it with Reilly's ficsation with codenames,  is unknowingly a target for international bounty hunters along with several others, but whats the connection? Along with his girlfreind, Grant, Mother, BookII, and wild card named the Black Knight. Scofeild must stay alive for 24 hours and find out why he is being hunted down with a $18.5 million price tag for his actual head.  Matthew Reilly throws you into the pages with his characters and drags you along for the ride of your life. The trick is to reading his books is not to speed read though them, but to emerce youself into them and try to keep up. I hope that Matthew Reilly continues to write like  his books are geting thrown in your face.                      RATING 4 of 5
