I have been a major fan of his books since Wizards First Rule, so after reading that whole-series and feeling disapointed that it ended, I was surpriced to see he had wrote a new book that acorrding to the dust jacket goes in a different direction. Terry Goodkind's book The Law of Nines, does take the reader a whole other way.. I was reading though the first couple chapters about a typical young buding artist, who has just turned 27 years old. So as I'm reading the story it at that time it seems rather typical,. Boy notices girl, boy saves girl from speeding van, girl has secret but can't tell him at that time, girl suddenlly disappears, men are out to kill him, girl sudden reappears in time to save him. You know typical thriller stuff. Then,WHAM,"whole nother level". The lead character just happens to be a 'Rahl'. So Goodkind take his stories to the modern day, in a fantastic thriller with a fantasy twist. Very good read and I hope this might be a new series for Goodkind and his chacters Alex Rahl and Jax.... and get this.... Amnhell. Edge of your seat and super fast for a relativly large book. Loved it. RATING 5 of 5

Sparten Gold (A Fargo Adventure) by Clive Cussler    Normally Cussler's books are solid gold, great stories, great characters, and a dose of history. So it saddens me not to give great kudos for his new book and characters, the Fargo's. The  stories history wasnt easy to follow and it meandered all over the place. Clive is the king of the adventures and the adventurous parts that were great. If it a ongoinging development of the characters, then i will try them again. I belive there is something there and room for inprovement. If Mister Cussler is reading this, I dont know if he is but that would be awesome, please keep going with the Fargo's. I have been a fan of Clive Cussler since my father introduced me to Dirk Pitt. I have read everything he has writen, sometimes as many as 2 or 3 times. Dirk Pitt is one of the greatest literary characters of all-time, and I wouldnt mind seeing a couple more join him.   RATING 2 of 5

Stalking The Unicorn by Mike Resnik

Think 1950's film noir and mix with Gary Larson's Farside. Resnik takes you on a trip though the world, as he puts it, just out of the couner of your eyesight. I picked this book up at the libray on a lark. I know i shouldnt judge a book by its cover but, this one intreged me. A picture of a bogart type, you know trench coat and fidora, in the middle of Times Squares with all sorts of odd cretures and odd things around him. The story begins with a elf with a problem, the unicorn he was guarding has been stolen and he needs help. So he gets the only detective not busy on New Years Eve, John J. Malory. He has until sunrise to find it or his client is going to be killed. I had alot of fun reading this book and look forward to reading the seires. Wickly funny in a twisted way and very interesting characters that you grow to like and hate some too.   RATING 4 of 5

Scarecrow by Matthew Reilly                   What havnt i said about Mr. Reilly that i havnt said before....maybe awesome! Again another book that reads like a movie. Edge of your seat all the way from begining to the end. Any normal person couldnt put it down, even if they wanted to. Shane Scofeild: codename Scarecrow, What is it with Reilly's ficsation with codenames,  is unknowingly a target for international bounty hunters along with several others, but whats the connection? Along with his girlfreind, Grant, Mother, BookII, and wild card named the Black Knight. Scofeild must stay alive for 24 hours and find out why he is being hunted down with a $18.5 million price tag for his actual head.  Matthew Reilly throws you into the pages with his characters and drags you along for the ride of your life. The trick is to reading his books is not to speed read though them, but to emerce youself into them and try to keep up. I hope that Matthew Reilly continues to write like  his books are geting thrown in your face.                      RATING 4 of 5

" The Contest" is another awesome book by Matthew Reilly. Again I cant say enough of this mans style and writing.  Stephen Swain is a single dad of a 5 year old girl and a full time doctor. All he wants is to spend more time with his daughter. He Finally gets a weekend off and is determined to be a good dad, but it is not be. For the past 7000 years a contest has been held to find the greatest warrior in the galaxy. The rules are simple, you cant leave the area of the  Contest and it is a fight to the death. Five of the most ferisome and deadlist warriors in the universe and Stephen Swain with his daughter! " I'm a healer not a killer" he thinks. Oh and one other thing the Contest this time is at the New York Public Libray! It is done in Mattew Reilly own heart-pounding speed. I could not and would not put it down. Reilly throws you into the middle of  the fray and wont let you go.  I've rarly had this much fun reading one authors books.

Sorry it has been a while but, lately I have been blowing though everything this man has written and cant seem to put down even I wanted to. There are some authors who's books should automaticlly be made into major motion pictures. Just to name some of them like Koontz, Cussler, Crition and now REILLY.

Think Indiana Jones meets Rambo. Big time adventure, big guns, big charactors, with more than a little history thrown in good measure. Matthew Reilly's books read more like a movie than a work of fiction.

It all starts in "7 Deadly Wonders". A multi-national team of soldiers, led byJack West Jr., codename Huntman. Everyone seems to have a codename in this book. West team needs to find where certain parts of the "7 greatest wonders of the world" are to pervent the end of the world from solar flares. Dont worry its been done before, some 3000 years before! The clues to earths survivial are written a dead languge that only one person can read, A 9 YEAR OLD GIRL. The sytory goes from one side of the planet to the other. The pace that this book sets will give whiplash and keep you screaming for more.

INFERNO by Larry Nivin and Jerry Pournelle   An ORB Book 1976.     You know how some things , at the time, seem like a good idea. For Allen Carpentier this is not one of those times. After falling off a 8 story balcolny to his death, he finds himself in the waiting room of . He finds himself wanting to ecape, but a writers curiosity wants to know more about where he has landed. Allen has to to travel though all Nine Layers of to escape, but the more he goes the more he wants to know. He has a traveling companion, who at first is only known as Benito, it is latter found out that it is realy none other than Benito Mussolini.    This is a very interesting if not wierd romp thru the netherworld with cicles of based in the modern times. Enjoyable and funny at times, I will pick up the next book that just came out, some 24 years latter.           RATING *** out 5.

Welcome to the , what i hope is the begining, of many more book reviews. Here how it works, I read a book of the genres that i prefer, and you can either pick-up said book or not. It is just my opinion. It will be a mostly 'Guys" reading list. Books that most guys and maybe some women will like, I hope.

These reviews will include a lifetime of reading and enjoying the imagination of the writers word. though I wasnt that stong of a reader in my early years, I did learn by reading what i liked and not what was told to read. I am happy to bestarting with this book first, since it was the comic book that started me on the road to literature. And away..... we go....
