Chew Is Out Of Control

639 views • Aug 17, '09 • (2) Comments

I don't know how many of you out there have been reading or interested in the comic book Chew, but I'm here to tell you that if you have not considered reading this comic you are doing yourself a injustice. You would be depreiving yourself of one of the most inovative and witty books out in the market today. Albeit these are like little gems and very hard to find it seems. Of course the hounds on ebay seemed to be able to sniff out a winner when they see one and then jack up the prices on us poor comic book fans.  chew has currently 3 issues out in the series so far, and if you can get your hands on them, I suggest you do. I think part of the reason the book has the popularity that it does is because it is a new and fresh idea, and it truly is something different. If you want to read a more indepth review of the books themselves check out my site. Remeber if you can get em' you won't regrett it.

Invincible

Hey it's been awhile since I've had the chance to get on here, feels good to be back:)

If anyone out there has not been reading Invincible by Robert Kirkman, then I have to say you are missing out big time. This series is soo amazing and it's all because of the character development which Kirkman has set up. If you wanna jump on board then check out the trades, I believe it's up to vol 10 right now not including the singles that have been put out.  This last issue #63 was crazy emotional for me, I don't wanna say to much and spoil things for those who have not read it yet. Let's just say the Invincible univierse will never be the same again. I would love to hear from anyone out there who is a Invicible/ Kirkman fan.  Also the art is wicked, Cory Walker first off as co-creator and now Ryan Ottley just knocking it out the park dude!

Check out my blog and upcoming comics and subculture online magazine ...should be out in early July fingers crossed.

Dark Reign Hawkeye #1

Honestly I don't know how I over looked this gem last week. I picked up the title listed above and all I can say is WOW! This book was soo good, it was like warm mac & cheese on a rainy day good. Andy Diggle nails it with the storyline, he left me wanting more. The art wan okay I know Raney is capeable of more, I thought it could be better, but the panels were full of action from get go. Bullseye is soo bad it's good in this book. If you are a fan of vintage Bullseye then you need to get this, and if your not then you still should and you will soon be a fan. I am going to be getting the rest of this series and I only hope it is as good as this first one was. BUY IT PEOPLE.

Well I have to say I'm am really jazzed about this new DP issue which starts off a new mini series, and comes out today..YEAH! This new series is gonna be written by Mike Benson and the art is done by Carlos Barberi.  Apparently the series revolves around a bet made by some rich frat boys and my boy DP has been ofcourse set up by said rich frat boys. DP faces off against some pretty serious characters, one  of them being The Punisher. This series looks really cool and I am gonna be picking up issue #1 later today.

I am looking forward to this new series that will be in my LCS tommorow. I can't wait to have all my pressing questions surrounding the return of Barry Allen as the flash answered like, when, where, why, and how.  The art looks really good on this first issue, I will be sharring my feelings about this issue on here, and I'm curious to know what Flash fans on here are thinking.

Ebay Friend Or Foe?

573 views • Mar 28, '09 • (6) Comments

First off I have to admit I am guilty of buying some comics off ebay. I am pretty torn about the whole thing because they make it so easy to get exactly what you want. On the other hand alot of them are also greedy bastards and want you to pay way over what something may be worth, not to mention the crazy shipping costs. It can be more than what you paid for the book!

The reserves are set high off the bat so that the bidding has no way but to go up. As a re-offender, I made the mistake of getting rid of my comics and my action figures a long time ago, big mistake! Now I have to regain my collection of favs the hard way. I have even tried looking for stuff on craigslist and so on, you can usually get a pretty fair deal there, but sometimes it's hard to come by and you need to have good communications witht the seller.

I know I should'nt complain if I participate in the whole "ebay" thing but this is just a rant and I want to know what my fellow comic book fans feel about the whole thing. I think that ebay is a great idea in theory, I suppose an agruement can be made that it's up to the indiviual to pay what they want and the seller is'nt to blame they just want to make money.

Punisher movie-war zone

530 views • Mar 22, '09 • (5) Comments

Okay so today was a blockbuster kinda day and I actually rented The Punisher:War Zone Staring Ray Stevenson. I know, I know I asked myself why?  Nobody has ever got Frank Castle down pat. Dolph Lungrin's punsiher was a sort of glam rock version, and Tom Jane was a bit too pretty. Ray Stevenson though was pretty much the best Frank I have ever seen on the big screen. This was compelete violence from begining to end, full of gore and just ridiculous stuff at times, and that's what made it good. Punisher was killing gangsters left right and centre, nice.  The super villian Jigsaw was done pretty well too, except for the whole recruitment scene that was a bit much and the accents were a little over the top. Funny though I did'nt even really know that the movie had even come out, it must have done at the box office. I don't think this would appeal to very many mainstream movie goers, but I think some Punisher fans might find it entertaining. I liked it, was worth the money I paid to rent it.  There are alot of pretty cool executions going down throughout the movie. No warm and fuzzy back story, just gung ho kicking! Ray Stevenson was dark and vunerable all at the same time, he did justice to the character, it did'nt sux in my humble opinion. Oh and I also rented Role Model which was a comedy and was pretty cute and funny worth checking out.

The Deadpool One Shot :(

498 views • Mar 20, '09 • (1) Comment

Earlier today I had posed the question, is it worth it to pick up this DP one shot? After being on this site today it inspired me to head out to my local comic shop and find out for myself. I found it on the shelves, I picked it up, read through it, and I have many things to say about it firstly being....BOOOOOOO!!!!  I really did'nt like this one shot. I found the art pretty aweful, and the writing was'nt that great either. I could'nt bring myself to get it. Deadpool is like so frekin' funny and such a bad- and, I just felt the whole thing was kinda lacking. There were a few smile to be had here and there but nothing laugh out loud worthy.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to bust my blog cherry on this site and say hello. I am a DP fan and I have not as yet picked up the new one shot mostly because I have'nt herd great things about it. Is it worth picking up? I'm asking a bit of a redundant question cause I most likely will pick it up...I have a tiny bit of a comic addiction problem since of late. I have in the last while reconnected with my inner geek and got back into comics. I tried to do the adult thing many years ago and pretend comics were gonna be apart of my childhood past...but I'm back. In closing drop me a line let me know your opinions, always looking for new friends.
