"“I don't wear white to hide myself. I wear it so they'll see me coming. So they'll know who it ..."

Collector for the sheer passion, as comics have had such an impact on my life. 3rd time around doing so and by far the greatest experience of them all. Lover of Silver Age, but have come around to bronze and dabble in the rest.

I had a bunch of comics from earlier years but hadn't been in to collecting at the start of the 90's.  I was going to college and began working at a restaurant.  Coincidentally, a new comic book shop opened in a vacant space right next to us.

When I had breaks from work, I began wandering over and checking out their stash, as well as the new releases.  Soon enough, I was back into collecting.  Image comics formed, and it was a huge deal at that time and I bought some issues.  The usual.  You know, Savage Dragon, WildCats, Spawn and so on.

I didn't totally submerge myself into Image, but bought a few issues here and there.  I think I may had purchased 3 or 4 Spawn books, and that was the most I had of any given Image title.

Past week's purchases.

It was a little lighter week in terms of purchases, but am happy with the ones that were made.

Stopped in the local comic shop and a black and white Spawn cover of #286 caught my eye.  I got back on a Spawn kick lately after catching an ebay deal for #1 thru 27 for $75.  I looked around the shop a bit, and saw a few Marvel titles.  Being a little more frugal, the Marvel books were all 6 bucks a pop, whereas the Span was $3.  So I went back and got 2 more copies of Spawn #286.  I guess there are 7 variant covers to this issue, and I now have covers 1, 6 and 7, but don't have any intentions of trying to get the rest.

I normally have a ton of stuff that I am watching on a weekly basis on ebay, but many are out of my price range at the moment.  I found a great looking lithograph of a Jae Lee print called "Green Goblin Triumphant".  The artwork was amazing, and it was signed by Jae.  It was a homage to Romita Jr.'s ASM 39 and 40 and done on 100lb gallery art silk stock, and measured 18x24 inces.  The starting bid was only $9.99, so I said what the heck and tossed up $11 as my max.  I woke up Sunday morning, and nobody bid and it was all mine.  It arrived today, expedited shipping and it is such a beauty.  Unfortunately my "geek room" has no more wall space at the moment.  I am going to have to hold this a little while, but most likely will get it professionally framed at some point.  Either way, I am totally pleased with this minimal purchase.
