Today was my first trip with my 5yr old son to a comic book store, and I overestimated the experience. I had been looking forward to visiting this new LCS since my move and figured it would be the perfect chance to pass the comic collecting bug on to my son. With anticipation I watched as he turned the comic stand looking at the various childrens titles. He picks up a Disney Cars, and flips a couple of pages, puts it back down. Oh, oh, could he be interested in Tiny Titans. He brushes by it??? I figure maybe I am putting to much pressure on the child by hovering over him. I tell him I am going to search the "old people comics" bin. He immediatelly walks away and over to the $10 dollar collectable Star Wars figures. I hear the question coming before it is asked. I politelly say "NO!!!", and continue, "we are here to look at comics". Well the attatude of despondency erupts across his face, and I know that I have to try and salvage my long awaited trip. So I convience him to try a Tiny Titans, that we can read together, and bag it up. You know make it a bonding moment.
I pretty much knew the trip was a bust, and as we were getting back into the car I had to ask him "THE" question. "Why didn't you want to buy a comic book??", I asked. He looked up at me with his sweet angelic face and said, "why would I want to buy a comic when I can watch cartoons on the T.V.??" At that moment I became one with James Tiberius Kirk in the Wrath of Kahn. I wanted to raise my clintched fist into the air, shake it, cursing the day television was invented.
Needless to say, I eased my broken heart by buying a $6 Strange Adventures #243 in NM condition. I also have a 1yr old son, and my second chance. So tonight I start reading noting but comics to him!!!- read more

That being said I am a huge Dr. Who fan, and have setup an ftp server for anyone who would like to download the new episodes from all 4 seasons.
