To me this is a very different thing. comic readers actually read comics!!! comic collectors just have them for investment or art. collecting started in the late sixties but didn't catch on until the 80's which led to the crash of the comic industry.
i myself am a comic reader AND collector.
i read all my comics especially my grails. i love the stories in the GA/ early SA comics. you can see the characters evolve over the years. like batman, wouldn't hesitate to shoot a gun to kill in the early detective comics but then robin came along..... or superman in early actions couldn't fly, he leaped.
- read morei was getting really bored and unentertained with my collection over the past few months because i would see these great collections other people had and all the possibillities for my collection. well so then i decided to go through my whole collection just to check it out.
i realized my collection is not what i thought it was. it was like 90% golden and silver age stuff. i realized i had more quality comics than i first thought. the rest of the day i just went through all my comics reading and admiring them
