With the continued success of the comic super hero movies, the studios are looking (I say more like digging and hoping) to find the next big hit.

This article talks about some of the new titles scheduled by Marvel for 2016 release.  Now, I am a fan of anything comic but I am also pretty adept to what could be made into money.

Titles like Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Batman, Superman and more have the natural ability to draw in the paying customers.   Primarily because they have huge marketing campaigns that go beyond the silver screen like television cartoons that show over and over.   Plus, these titles have a long standing history of being naturally recongnizable by the general public.     But, put a character drawing of Ant-Man, The Black Panther or Dr. Strange in front of these same people and i will be that only 10% or so will be able to guess who they are.

Superheroes = gods?

Let's face it....we all need something to believe in - something that makes us feel good and encourages us.

I am a Christian and I like to watch Joel Osteen because I appreciate how he uses the Bible to motivate and encourage.    I also like to watch superhero movies because they make me feel good - almost like I can conquer the world.

Well, this writer is taking it to the next step and is asking - Are superheroes the new gods?

I've already told you that your collection is worth less, so why the continued push for comics as an investment?

This article by the DailyFinance website lays out some pretty convincing arguments that perhaps it is time to add comic books to your retirement portfolio.  But hold on just a second.   It is just as much guess work as it is picking the right stock.  How many invested into MCI? (my hand is raised).   DO NOT INVEST IN COMIC BOOKS!

Let's look at some of the points they site:

I use to own a comic book store nearly 20 years ago and probably the most difficult aspect was trying to GUESS which title and how many of the new comics to order.  At that time, you were placing orders for books in which you were waiting 2, 3, or 4 months to receive.

Yeah there were the reliable titles like Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man and anything IMAGE.   But, there is one title getting ready to come out that currently has more than NINETY THOUSAND pre-orders!   Before, you click this link to find out which book, take a moment and see if you can guess properly.  I can tell you right now....I would have missed the boat if I still had my comic shop.

Many arguments back and forth on which character is better than the other.  It's tough to compare.  I mean can you really compare Superman (a being with well....super powers) to Batman (a human with no powers)?

Well, apparently you can.  This list of the greatest comic characters has me pretty much nodding my head in agreement with all but #3.  For that, I have to give a great big - HUH?
