This started out in the forums when someone asked if I get anything good when I buy a box of comics.   Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not.   Thus, I have decided that I will write a blog about each of my box lot type purchases so that you can decide for yourself.   I would very much appreciate your input on whether you find this useful and would like for me to continue.

THE ITEM

This item was purchase from eBay.   The title was:  Long Box of Marvel and DC and it was purchased from eBay user (in this case, I am leaving the seller ID out.   These items don’t come around often and I can get them at a pretty good price so, I do not want to increase the competition).

Investing in Comics? Whatever......

I've already told you that your collection is worth less, so why the continued push for comics as an investment?

This article by the DailyFinance website lays out some pretty convincing arguments that perhaps it is time to add comic books to your retirement portfolio.  But hold on just a second.   It is just as much guess work as it is picking the right stock.  How many invested into MCI? I use to own a comic book store nearly 20 years ago and probably the most difficult aspect was trying to GUESS which title and how many of the new comics to order.  At that time, you were placing orders for books in which you were waiting 2, 3, or 4 months to receive.

Yeah there were the reliable titles like Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man and anything IMAGE.   But, there is one title getting ready to come out that currently has more than NINETY THOUSAND pre-orders!   Before, you click this link to find out which book, take a moment and see if you can guess properly.  I can tell you right now....I would have missed the boat if I still had my comic shop.

I say PASS on this movie....

There have been many great comic books turned movies.  Some with great success and some with great failure - like this early Fantastic Four movie trailer

The ones that have enjoyed great success have been because of the "name factor" - those characters whom we have come to know in the comic world and vicariously into the societal acceptance.

So, I am going to predict that a movie from the ElfQuest series is going to be a big FLOP!   I would venture to say that nobody outside of the comic world has ever heard of ElfQuest and those within the comic world would much rather read Spider-Man or X-Men.
