The Incredible Hulk Pre-Screen Review

3659 views • Jun 10, '08 • (0) Comments

Ok so the Mrs. and I were able to check out a sneak preview of the Hulk which comes out this friday.

One thing I have learned about these sneak previews is that my time should be worth more than $4 an hour - the price of a movie ticket ($8) divided by the number of hours spent waiting for the movie to start (2).

This screening was packed...probably 550 with them having to turn others away. There were also a lot of kids. I think most kids have heard of The Hulk before unlike Iron Man. One nice thing about this theater is that you can bring your own food and drink in...they don't care. So we were able to get a reasonably priced meal before hand. But anyways...I digress.

Christmas in June

Well we have all heard this phrase before...but for me today I litterally thing that I experienced it.

Have you ahve braved Black Friday? (For those unintiated that would be the day after Thanksgiving).  I have done it a couple of times and know well enough to get there early (often several hours of waiting in freezing weather).

The Mrs. and I have had a Wii since Thanksgiving last year (no I did not wait in line for it...my sister just happened to be at Best Buy when they got a shipment in so she got me one).  We were going to get one anyways...we just thought we would wait until March when Mario Kart came out thinking they would be less scarce (this is definetly not the case).

Finally! Computers are a pain

3224 views • Jun 7, '08 • (2) Comments

So if you have read my other blogs you have noticed that I got a new computer...and then got another new computer a week later.

I just received the "replacement" computer this morning and I have spent all day setting it up.

I put it on the desk and started setting it up.  As I mentioned in the previous blog my graphics card was upgraded as well.  I didn't know what this meant as to a layman it is only a "version" number.  Well when I was plugging everything in I noticed that there is only one DVI connection on the card.  Where the other older card had 2 DVI connections the new one had just the one and it replaced the other with an HDMI slot.

New Computer Part 2

I have had a couple of questions about the new computer...and an interesting twist as well.

First of all I asked around at my employer before I went to buy a computer if we got a discount with Dell. I was told no, but we did have one with Apple.

So I placed my order. Less than 5 days after receiving the new computer I got an e-mail from a guy at work with a link to vendor's that the parent company get deals with. Who was on there? Dell.

Had to buy a new computer

So in the middle of creating the new site and moving everything over I had to break down and buy a new computer.

I didn't realize how old my current computer was.  It started making noises, randomly shutting down, and breathing fire (ok...not that bad...but it was pretty bad).

I tried to talk my boss at work that my employer should by me one as I can work from home but that went over like a ton of bricks.

Spoilers inside...read at your own risk!

I decided the other day that I was going to break down and watch this movie in the theater.  Even though it has been getting bad reviews I didn't care.  Plus, if you go see it during the day the ticket cost is only $5 (half of the normal cost and the same cost as renting it on demand).

I didn't have very many expectations.  I just know that I read about why it took what 20 years to appear...that Ford, Spielberg, and Lucas couldn't agree on a suitable plot.

Day #1 at the new ComicBookRealm

Well...after getting to be really late (1:30 am) and having the wife ask me again why I was late...I hoped and prayed that things would go well.

I got up this morning fully expecting a backlog of bugs/to do items but I actually only have a couple that I knew about this morning before I went to bed.

I need to try to clean up the old link and see if I can "die" them better on here.

Who would have thought that 5 years ago after launching what was just going to be a little hobby site that we would be here today?

Over the years I have continually listened and improved upon the site adding things in place. Well this time the changes were so big that it required a re-write from the ground up including a new domain.

We are no longer just a site for comic book price valuations. We are now a site that encompasses everything about comic books and offers features that make us a true community.
