First of all, let us put all politics aside.  I don’t care if you are for or against the recently passed legislation.  I just want to point out how 100% of Americans should have been against it.

It is claimed that 47 million Americans are without health insurance for whatever reason.  There are 3 primary reasons for this I believe:

  1. Insurance is too expensive
  2. They have a pre-existing condition
  3. They choose not to purchase it as a fundamental right

This legislation does a few things to address each item above.  One thing is that it requires EVERYONE to purchase health insurance or face a penalty.  It also requires insurance companies to treat all Americans the same, i.e. they cannot take age, nor pre-existing conditions into account when figuring out someone’s premium.  The thinking is that now that everyone is required to have health insurance that 40 million (let’s face it, you will never have 100% participation especially when a $1,000 penalty is cheaper than say a $4,000 premium) new enrollees will actually provide enough money into the system to lower premiums for all.

I have never really been into mystery/thriller/horror comics.  I tried reading the latest version of House of Mystery from Vertigo, but only made it 3 issues before I lost interest.

Attempt #2 is The Unknown by Boom Studios.  I must preface that it is a little different reading a comic in a PDF file versus reading it "live", but it is nice in that there are no distrations.

Let's start off my comic reviewing experience with one of my all-time favorite movie franchises - Die Hard.

This is one of the franchises that seems to get better and better as it goes along (unlike most others that should have stopped after the first one) - and now it is in Comic Book form!

The bing search engine has a way to go

So I am in love with the Palm Pre.  I do not own one, I am just waiting for gen 2 that has more memory.  How they cannot have an 8, 16 and 32 GB model at launch is beyond me. (well I know that it is because of the type of chip they chose was only made in 8 to start with but that is besides the point).

Anyways, for those not following along they have sold out of all known phones, and continue to as well.  People have figured out how to hack the phone (gain root access) which thus enables them to do basically whatever they want.

Well...since I cannot get enough information on it I decided to try searching for "pre" on Bing (which is now my default browser).  As with anything new, there is always a learning curve, and I think they might need to revisit their algorithm to present results I am actually looking for.

Ok...so this will be a rant.

The family and I are watching our Thursday night shows.  One of them is Survivor.  Probst goes and gets the votes and then what happeens?

The FREAKING weather people come on to talk about weather (tornado) that is literally on the opposite side of the viewing area from us...probably a good 1 hour+ drive.

Daddy...What is that?

The family and I went to Costco on Sunday to pick up some much needed items.

Some of you know that I live in Johnson County, KS which some equate to the 90210 of KS.  Most of the time I think they are wrong.  Sure there are some outlandish purchases, but for the most part I wouldn't lump everyone/thing together.

Super Bowl 43: THE Big Game

So I am sure that most of us spent last night watching the game.  I usually do not pay attention to the game, I watch it for the commercials.

I actually do the complete opposite of normal football watching.  During the normal game I will get up and do stuff during the commercials, but during the Super Bowl I will get up and do stuff during the game.

So I have AT&T's UVerse.  Basically we can have 4 "streams" at one time.  This means 4 different channels, or 2 HD channels (HD counts as 2 streams).

So we made the annual pilgrimage to the circus on Saturday night with our free tickets.  My wife's Grandfather used to be in the Shriner's so we get comped general admission tickets for free.

Lexi is still too young to understand what is going on.  She had more fun sitting on her aunt's lap and playing with some cheap neon bracelets.  I don't really get anything out of it...but this time I did come away with some questions.

So I was curious as to how a circus functioned.  I mean it is obvious people doing things, and animals and the such...but how does it make money?  I mean everything is a business and has to make money or else there would be no reason for it right?

Buying cheap isn't always the best

Ok...I don't normally go grocery shopping.

I work long hours and it is often easier for the Mrs. to get stuff.  Well the other night she asked me if I would get some stuff to make chili on the way home.

I bought some ground turkey (cheaper than ground beef), knock off tomato sauce, and knock off chili seasonings.

A horrible precedent has been set

Here is a news story that came out last week (I like to let things "stew" for a while before going off half cocked).

(CNN) -- Fannie Mae said it will set aside the loan of a woman who shot herself as sheriff's deputies tried to evict her from her foreclosed home.

Addie Polk, 90, of Akron, Ohio, became a symbol of the nation's home mortgage crisis when she was hospitalized after shooting herself at least twice in the upper body Wednesday afternoon.
