TAPE IS BAD please read and learn

I've beign collecting comics for 23 years off and on. And a painful lesson i just relearned today is tape is BADEvil or Very Mad

I was looking and reading a couple of my older books Strange Tales 120 to be exact and i took the tape off the bag a stuck it to the side of the bag to reuse. removed the comic and read it and then proceed to set said comic on the table...... on top of the bag and board....ARRRGGGGHHHH. d'oh! i went to pick up the comic to rebag it and to my great displeasure and dismay the bag came with it.Mad the tape has stuck itself to the back cover of the book. After a few cuss word and Brick walland jumping up and down, i painfully tried to remove the tape. i got most of it off without damage but not all. That @#$%@#% tape remove a small portion of the back cover from which there is no fixing or repair. I dont know why i wanted to save the tape because normally i just cut it and use a new piece to reseal the bag. i did the exact same thing years ago which lead me to cutting the tape. Brick wallBrick wallBrick wall.

For all you out there. DONT SAVE THE TAPE USE A NEW PIECE. throw the removed tape in the garbage before removing the comic to read. Dont do what i just did.

  • OUCH!!
i've had this happen a few times myself.
however, each time i calmed down, focused, took my time and was able to get the tape of before it really got attached.

  • I hate it when that happens. I've had worse though. A room mate of mine had spilled orange juice on her way out to work, and only dried it with a paper towel. sadly enough the juice dried on the table in to be sticky and I acidentaly put a daredevil comic right in it. Sad

  • Sad Tape is sadly an evil thing when it comes to collecting comics.

  • I feel your pain, I too am a victim of a horrible "taping" accident. Yeah, like why did I try to save the piece of tape? I mean, it's tape, I can get more. Just the hazzards of being a comic book collector I guess. Only other collectors would understand.

    • Yes and that is why i blog this. A piece of tape is just not worth saving, A half cent worth of tape can take tens or hundreds of dollars off a book.

  • Sorry tt_cook I have done the same thing more times than I can remember. Your advice is sound, and a good refresher since my three year old has me reading my old comics to him now!!

  • I just did the same thing recently. I usually like to use the scotch Satin tape they sell in bulk around the holidays. It seems to come off better from the bag or book. I used the regular clear tape, must've been the ultra sticky Stark Technologies Tape, and it ruined some books of mine. If you must save the tape,......go with the Satin!!
