- I'm definitely feeling some strong 90s vibes about comics recently. They aren't the good kind of vibes, either. There's going to be a bit of history repeating that's going to be VERY familiar to those of us who were there to see it happen in the 90s.
On the good side, the bargain bins are about to get a very nice refresh! Favorite Characters: Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, Captain America, The Shadow, Zorro, The Rocketeer, Jonah Hex

- Hearing those comics being referred to as "old" made me feel old
Years ago I went through and read all the Spider-man main titles, from ASM #1 through whatever was current in 2013 or so. Read them in publishing order since the titles sometimes weaved together, but the point is I was floored by how long it took to read those early issues. Self-contained stories, lot of panels, still had a through-line, and despite how dated it read, still good reads.
I know we're miles away from that today, and maybe that's for the better, but a middle ground would be nice. Having every story beat planned out to 6 issues leaves things a little shallow. Even the indie comics do that and when you read multiple titles, it can be hard to remember what happened with so little in each comic.

I agree. I usually get my pull box books, and only read them 3 issues at a time; in groups of 3. I still have plenty to read each week. I buy 8 titles.
Also, I Personally buy comic books to read. Collecting is the secondary aspect of my enjoyment of comic books. I hardly ever sell a book. If I do, it's because i came across a stellar deal to get a better copy of a book I truly love, and I sell the lesser copy. As such, I'm very happy they pumped out millions of copies of each issue in the 90s. I'm paying very little to buy them. "The news isn't there to tell you what happened. It's there to tell you what it wants you to hear, or what it thinks you want to hear. They already have their stories worked out. They just wait for events to fill in the blanks. When they don't fit, they get sidelined or twisted till they do." (Cyclops - Astonishing X-Men #7)
