  • Hello, I am curious why Thunderbolts 1st appearance ( Incredible Hulk #449 ), Thunderbolts #1 are going up in value, while Spider-Man Team-Up # 7 , the 2nd appearance of the Thunderbolts has shown no movement in years? Are people unawarenof this early appearance? I imagine that the distribution of this title was much lower than the former mentioned titles.

  • just did a price check and its a $3 book...2nd appearance is not really a key, 1st is...and most people dont search out 2nd appearances honestly. Maybe someone like me who collects a specific character, but for the most part not really. Also theres not really a rarity difference in the 2, other then 449 is the 1st app.

Also FYI...Spider man team up is not their 2nd appearance, Thunderbolts #1 is (TB1 was april 97, smtu7 was july 97) and TB1 has seen a rise.

  • Hi, thanks for info, was just interested in what people thought on subject.

  • oh...lol...the way you worded it, i thought you felt the value was wrong lol ...no problem...

My opinion is...for older stuff i can see it being sought after (for me Amazing Spider-Man #5 i am still wanting very badly lol) (2nd appearance of Dr. Doom)...but when you get into the newer stuff...its the speculators and sellers that determine whats hot sales wise...and all they care about is 1st appearances or Movie/TV show appearances. 2nd app they dont even think about. Those people dont read the stories or any of that, they just buy and flip...thats the problem with our community (collectively, not the site's) right now, theres alot of non-readers driving everything.

That's what almost destroyed comics in the 90's. It's coming back around full circle.

  • So comic booking has cycling trends like world history, it tends to repeat itself?

  • From what I've seen and read, yes.
Unfortunately, also like world history, people don't learn from the past.
I'm surprised comic book stores still exist at all.
