  • If you think something is missing, PLEASE post about it and I will get to work on it! We appreciate your time! **no 1/1s (Original Art / Sketches)

This list use to be run by shvd98z24, but he has stepped down and I'll be taking over for now.

    Update:
    - Pictures have been rolled out! If a link doesn't work please pm me.
    - If you have pictures of something I am missing, post for all to see.
    - A few books might contain more than one picture. This does not mean they have a chase or sketch variant for that book. It’s an additional picture I found while hunting.
To avoid confusion they now have an asterisk. Ex - [1,2*] (2* is not a real cover)
No asterisk means the second picture is the rear cover. Ex - [1,2] (2 is the rear cover)

  • Sad. I was watching it for the Scatterbrain, but it looks like someone bought it on the side...
Probably mcfarlanehero Applause Still a good deal at $150.

  • I agree, that's a good one! Nice find! I like the art style. The angle is a little off, but the pose is spot on. I have some updates to do over the weekend and alot of pics to upload!!! Busy busy!

Sorry, that was me. I needed Scatterbrain and Punks so I made him an offer.

I started making a custom collection over on the set registry if anyone wanted to have a peek. I just added Ogre 3 but didn't scan a picture yet for the collection. https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/WCM/ComicCustomSetView.aspx?s=27015

I just started slabbing them. I have 15 that are at CGC now for quick press and grading, and about another 15-20 that I still have to send out for the same.

  • That's funny. I was actually thinking about that Scatterbrain at work earlier this week. Then the fisherman from the Geico commercial popped in and said, "ohhhh you gotta be quicker than that". It didn't occur to me to message the seller, even though that's how I got my 94 RMC, which turned out to be a 9.8!

Your set looks great! I'll check back periodically for updates on it! I have a couple of mine graded too and would send more in except it's kinda pricey.

  • I love this list and reference it often. Thank you very much.

I am obsessed with this book and want ALL variants. I have some items that I cannot find on your list.

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/s9yhR1rLgMFc6j7r6

Namely, the pin set, the Copper Lizard (the never seen reverse of the Blue Lizard) and the in store promo sign, they are all in the pics above.

Keep up the great work, and I really hope I found some things that can be added to the OG list.

  • Very cool...and appreciated Big Ronnie. We know of the pin set...I have it and just haven't gotten pics to Sllim yet (I believe he might have the set too). I have never even heard of the "copper lizard"...so that's very cool to hear about as well.

Great stuff...feel free to share anything else you can think of or find going forward. I like that you have stuck with the actual original image and haven't delved into the swipe/homage world...would be much more manageable that way!

Which color cover are you seeing the copper lizard in? I noticed in one of my gold cover books.

  • I have seen Lizard Color misprints in the Silver and Gold covers. The Silver has the Blue and Copper misprints, they Gold cover I have has a grey/green Lizard, not the same colors, but the same affected pages and panels.

  • It seems that Shelby Robertson is taking advantage of our obsession. Personally, I think it's a shame that he sticks with so many of the same homage covers, both SM1 and ASM300.

Maybe it's just me but i'm beginning to feel a little bit used here.

    What is that book please?

  • BigRonnie...

Nice catch on the poster books...I have had mine for years and years and never knew there was a variation!!!

In regards to the brown/copper Lizard, I just learned of that as well too.

The pin you posted came out in the last 6 months or so I believe. I found it early on and it is one of the items I may not have provided to Sllim when I handed the list over. There are a couple items I need to get off my ass on and share. Will try to do in the near future!

Thanks for jumping in here...we need fresh blood to keep this moving. More eyes, the better!!!

  • Cool about the poster books and pin. Glad to help. Love finding new things.

Is the Copper Lizard book the one I have that I brought here for inclusion? Why is it called Brown?

Also, for anyone looking, there are now 3 Diamond Editions for sale on eBay. First time in over a year that there were 3 available for sale.

I am going to try and make some time on Sunday to update a few things on the list. I think I already have pictures of the recent pin that was posted about, but I'll get it added!

Also, Shelby has a few more limited Sp1 books. Blind Box with 5 new designs that will be available in October. Books will be limited to 10 each.

  • I'm going to drop off 6 NM Blue Lizards this Saturday at East Coast Comic Con in NJ.

Has anyone had one graded by CBCS? I'm curious to see what the label is going to say. Would love to see a pic if you have one. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the pics. I did some searching on Sunday and found some others. If I have time I'll upload them this weekend.

I contacted CBCS and they confirmed that they do currently acknowledge the Blue Lizard on the label as a variant. I dropped off 6 to CBCS at ECCC. Waiting on the grades now.

  • Hey guys, thank you for the nod, but I don't think the SM#1 Silver Cover Double Cover book I found should be considered part of the "OG" books. I wouldn't list any manufacturer errors outside the Blue Lizard and Copper Lizard currently.

(That being said, I may revise this in the future; I have an SM#1 Gold Cover where the exact same pages and panels and the Blue/Copper Lizard are misprinted. The Lizard is a kind of grey/green, but I haven't heard of any others and until I do, can't lobby for the book being anything other than a one of one misprint. Cool, but not much else.)

  • Hey guys! Found another one. You list the UK Foreign:
[1,2] - The Complete Spider-Man #1 (Marvel UK w/ Patch) [Marvel Comics UK, Dec 1990]

But there are 2 different ones, and the second one wasn't a UK release.

The 1st photo is correct, the 2nd is not. The 2nd photo has a different book in it. I believe this was the free giveaway with the German Spider-Man Atari Video Game in 1990. It came folded in half inside the game box. Quite rare. I heard that the print run was 3,000.

I found one in my set, can't figure out when I got it or what I paid, but there it is:

  • I have wanted to post something substantial for a while, but I haven’t had the time. Lots of stuff going on in RL. Little by little I have been updating the main list with images which has been a bit of a process and more involved than I originally thought. I plan on doing some fixes in the near future, but right now it is mostly complete with only a few images and books to add.

Over the last couple of months I have taken a few trips where I saw some swipe images. I went to Universal Studios and spent a decent amount of time walking around the Marvel area of the park. On the way out I took one last walk through the larger store and noticed this hanging up on the shelf (1) I also went to Hero Con on the 15th to have a couple of my books signed and graded. While I was standing in line for signatures a kid passed by me wearing a swipe t-shirt I haven’t seen before. It looks like this (1) although I can’t remember which direction the diagonal went or if the covers were flipped. It all happened very quick and I didn’t see the kid again. Be on the lookout!

    Image

His knees are crouched in almost the same position as well as the bend in the arm. The hand is inverted to the outside and facing the camera instead of pointing away. On a scale the pose is closer to the swipe stance than a crouch. I think this would go in Parody at most. Is it an actual comic or just a pic? I feel like I saw this in the original thread...

I was thinking about this the last time I updated pics. I wanted to have them shown somewhere on the list and at first I had them numbered, but soon after decided to delete the numbers and add “misprint” to the title. Now I am thinking about adding a misprint section underneath the originals section or somewhere that would house these misprints as well as the lizard misprints. Thoughts?

I would also like some input on what to do with the El Monito books that popped up on ebay a few months ago. 5 or 6 sets were sold as well as some individuals. I know they are international and there is an international section, but I feel like they are new original books and not a translated version. They are currently in the swipe section.

I added ASM 799 under the fringe section. This one kept calling out to me while I was on the search. The background webbing is similar, but the pose is a little off. It’s almostttt, but not quite. This is up for debate too.

American Dischord has a few new books that incorporate the swipe pose, but don't have it full scale. Its smaller in a bubble or cornerbox. I don’t think that these belong on the swipe list, but maybe on the homage or fringe sections or not at all?

Thanks. When I was searching for images of the patched book the side by side image popped up. I figured it was just one with the patch removed. The pic that I currently have listed for the game is all I could find. I will get these switched around the next time I update and add pics Smile

  • Hello guys , remember that i mencioned that i was in talks with a guy that have a few SETs of the PizzaMan comic , well we finally talk nice and clear and i made him a offer he couldn't resist ( this set is worth every penny ).

Why?, well because this comics are not easy to fin and you normally see it once a year if you got lucky and this guy have a few sets so that was an opportunity that i was not willing to miss.

They arrived today and OMG they are beatiful.

Right Now the guy has some health problems, it seems that his wife has cancer and that's why he decided to sell some comics from his collection.

For what he told me, looks like he still have 2 or 3 more SET's..... so if you guys want, i can share via PM his contact info.

Yeah...I lucked into finding the set of both issues from a guy in New Mexico. I'm still on the hunt for more copies, but they are hard to find for sure.

  • what do you guys think about the Critter #4e, published by Aspen? I scooped this one up long ago thinking it was the Critter by Big Dog, but that was in my younger, less seasoned, years.

A few of the tiers are kinda confusing, but I think this is all of them.
    - Prey for the Sinner #1a (Sinner Base Variant, #ed/) [Counterpoint Comics, Oct 2019]
    - Prey for the Sinner #1b (Sinner Virgin Variant, #ed/25)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1c (Sinner Virgin Chromium Variant, #ed/20)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1d (Sinner Virgin Gold Variant, #ed/20)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1e (Sinner Virgin Metal Variant, #ed/20)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1a (Dark Sinner Base Variant, #ed/50)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1b (Dark Sinner Virgin Variant, #ed/25)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1c (Dark Sinner Virgin Chromium Variant, #ed/20)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1d (Dark Sinner Virgin Gold Variant, #ed/20)
    - Prey for the Sinner #1e (Dark Sinner Virgin Metal Variant, #ed/20)

  • I could be wrong, but I believe the sketch edition is a regular cover that has a sketch on it versus an alternate b&w sketch cover.

  • I could be the one that's wrong haha. I typed this up early in the morning and the $95 tier gave me the impression it was a sketch variant. It could only be for the reg sin and not dark variant or neither. I'll wait for the release before officially adding it.

I wish they would have sorted the tiers by artist instead of foil, gold, and metal. Hopefully they wont be difficult to find and eBay will have them for a fair price.

I forgot to reply on this sooner, but I agree that this works as a Fringe homage.
