  • In X-Men Fold-out cover 48-page giant is a picture of Omega Red, this predates X-Men #4.

I'm short on the very specifics of what really constitutes a 1st appearance so I'm just wondering where this falls?

  • if i remember correctly, posters and ads do not count. People will pay whatever for whatever, its all in how you market it...but i dont see a poster making this one collectible past just a common comic.

I think his 1st comic app only fetches like $10 in NM so...

  • Here's what he's talking about:

The X-Men #1 Wolverine/Cyclops cover variant includes a pin-up for Omega Red. Each book had a different pin-up. Most people do not consider pin-ups first appearances but they do have a market.

  • I don't consider a pin-up in X-Men #1c of Omega Red as his first appearance. Yes, he sure is included, but no one cares. Not sure why AmZombie included a link to X-Men #25 in his last post?

  • its just a link to the x-men series...

  • I'd say it's a first appearance to someone if they really liked the character.
He'll have to be used more or people won't care.

I guess I have the less common version of that... the newsstand version.

"Less common" is a good way to describe a comic that sold over a million copies. Does it include the pin-up? The reason I ask is because I read that the gate-fold cover doesn't have any pin-up at all and I'm just wondering if there's any difference between the news stand and direct version.

  • I forgot about his pinup in X-Men #1. Omega Red was such a great character. I haven't really kept up with Marvel but it seems like they're not really using the character to his full potential.

It's not easily accessible at the moment, so I can't check.

  • Reminds me of the pin-up in The New Mutants Annual #6 of Shatterstar. CGC notes the pin-up on their label. New Mutants #99 says first appearance cameo, and #100 says first full appearance of Shatterstar.
I'm the best there is at what I do. And what I do best is buy/sell comics.
