  • Yeah I second to report it. Dealt with eBay about 30 years. Most sellers are quick to refund, some even just refund and don’t want the book back, if a cheap book. Problem is cracks on a CGC book. They will reholder for a small fee but will drop the grade due to damage.

I am the same way, 1000 positive feedback can be spoiled by a negative. Although I don’t list grades on items, there is often a variance in people’s grading, I use a suggestion and usually price at 30% to 50% off suggested grade to allow for differences. Only had 1 return in my sales. That was a gvg Amazing Spider-Man # 1 I listed as not restored. With numerous spine issues and tears I missed a tiny 1/16 by 1/8 piece of tape on spine. Buyer returned and I refunded, all good. Later sold it at Tampa Con, pointed out tape to buyer, he said no problem he would just remove it before having it slabbed.
The joy is in the journey, not just the destination.

  • I bought a few more comics on ebay since this post. A few CGC which shipped perfect but every single non-slabbed comic (3 now) was sold as a 9.4 and arrived less then a 7.5 with obvious non-shipping related damage like 6+ spine creases from reading, half inch bends in corners, sticky stuff on UPC code, the rear top edges feathered / rippled with damage, indented side damage that carried through every page, etc....

Just yesterday I got 2, both <7.5. I complained to the sellers and they refunded all my money (were only talking $10 / $20 . $15 kind of comics) within minutes. These people had to know these comics had issues. So while Im even more disappointing, Im happier that the sellers were honest and I left them good reviews.

But Im done with ebay for sure.

  • That is why you should never trust grades on eBay...ask for more pictures if you are unsure.

  • Starman, I'll set you up with great prices, accurate grading, and no bullshit, if you want to buy some older comic books from me. Ask around.

  • Full disclosure: I have not actually bought any books from Brucifer but he did buy a few of mine once. I would totally trust him if I was looking to purchase any of his books as he is a stand up guy for sure. No worries there, whatsoever.
