  • I'd say 298-325. McFarlane's run was my favorite time for Spider-Man. It could be just because that was around when I started reading Spider-Man. I thought the art was awesome and each issue had a whole bunch of great characters.

  • Key issues:
    1 - 'nuff said
    3 - 1st Doc Ock
    14 - 1st Green Goblin
    50 - Kingpin, classic cover
    96-98 - Drug issues
121 - Death of Gwen Stacy
122 - Death of Green Goblin
    129 - 1st Punisher
    149 - Peter Parker clone
    252- 1st black costume
    300 - 1st Venom

It's funny that you mention the McFarlane run as the best of ASM. I disliked it so much that I stopped collecting ASM for a few years. Spidey is not a dark brooding character, that's Batman.

  • I think the Web of Spiderman is highly underrated. It is a pretty good series.
    I'm not saying....I'm just saying...

I'm not a big fan of Mcfarlane's run either... I do like his cover art. Smile I've been collecting ASM for years. I started buying up key issues when I got out of college. I've read almost the entire run. Smile To be honest my favorite issues... The issues that I'll go back and read again aren't the key issues... They're obscure issues you'd never think of. This is one of those questions your gonna get different answers from almost everyone. Such a great series it's tough picking favs.

I whole heartedly agree with the first, but not with the death.
Because the death was in superior spiderman issue.

And with a name like peter parker, how dare you marvel temporarily end his existence?

I'm surprise no one mentions carnage. It is one of the regular recurring role that's brought back again and again.
