  • I will admit, that is a pretty interesting story. It does make you think a little. It reminded me of the violence in video games debate from awhile back. Even before then with the censorship in music and the battle with Janet Reno. As far as children and exposure, I guess it is really up to how you raise your children. Everyone is different in what they allow to be viewed, but we still have a rating system as a base guide to help facilitate any choices made.

  • I remember when superhero comics had to comply with the CCA (Comics Code Authority) for this very reason. For those too young to know you can read about what it was here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics_Code_Authority

Before the superhero genre there was a time when the Western was king. Movies, television, and comics all depicted the wild west and stories were based around cowboys and Indians. And before that young readers were entertained with stories about knights like King Arthur going to battle... These were usually based around one sole character who would become a hero.

Really not much has changed since those times. The core of it all is the theme of good vs evil. We're all drawn to these stories in some form or another. It's a reality of life that it takes violence to destroy evil. There's an old saying attributed to Edmund Burke which we've probably heard before, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
