  • Fantastic Four Returns To Marvel?

The Fantastic Four could be heading back to Marvel Studios… but it comes at a price.

After the recent ‘Fantastic Four’ movie took a critical pounding, 20th Century Fox seems to have struck a deal to give the rights back to Marvel in exchange for X-Men TV rights.

“Fox were given the TV rights for X-Men in exchange for Fantastic Four,” Den of Geek exclusively reveals. “The deal’s been in the works for some time, we’re told, and further, the timing of Marvel’s recent announcement of its movie slate leading up to the year 2020 and the X-Men TV series is no coincidence.”

Of course, just last week Marvel confirmed that three untitled films would be heading our way in 2020 – just after the culmination of the studio’s efforts in ‘Infinity War: Part 1 & 2’.

But while no hints were given about what we might expect, it now seems as though a new ‘Fantastic Four’ movie might be among them

“You may remember that there are three, so-far untitled films on Marvel’s schedule in five years’ time,” added Den of Geek. “We’re told that one of those films is a Fantastic Four movie.”

This comes shortly after news that Marvel and Fox have done a ground-breaking deal for the X-Men TV rights – allowing 20th Century Fox to produce two new television shows based upon Marvel’s mutants.

The frosty history between the two studios left many fans wondering if there were other motivations at play… and if this new rumour is to be believed, it could see Marvel’s most iconic superhero team back in the hands of their creators.

“We don’t have an independent source to back this claim up, so we’ll have to treat it with a certain amount of caution for now.”

But with the critical failure of ‘Fantastic Four’ still ringing in Fox’s ears, perhaps this deal was just too good to refuse. It certainly makes a whole lot of sense, and could be a lucrative move for both studios.

After all, two new X-Men shows in exchange for a problem film franchise seems like a good deal to me.

But will we finally get the ‘Fantastic Four’ movie we’ve been waiting for?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

  • This is good news not only for a potentially decent FF movie set in the Marvel Universe but also for a return of a FF comic series.
