  • I'm not sure if these covers count as "cosplay" as I am not sure that term even existed at the time, but the first comic book photo covers I am aware of are Spider-Woman #50 from June 1983 and Amazing Spider-Man #262 from March 1985. Probably some other CBR members will know more!

  • Tenzil, those are the two (Spidey #262 and Spider-Woman #50) that come to mind when trying to remember cosplay (or dressing up in character as we called it back then).

  • Dazzler #21 Nov 1982
    Marvel Team-up Vol.1 #128 April 1983

I'm thinking there may be an earlier one from Marvel, had Wendi Pini dressed up as Red Sonja? I could be mixing it up with just photos, I know she dressed up as her a lot at conventions.

What about all those photo covers from the 50's and 60's? Had people dressed in costume for the tv shows and used photos for the comics...do those classify as Cosplay?

I wouldn't call them cosplay comic covers from the 50's and 60's cause they used the actors from the tv shows for the covers.
