  • I came across an old post but cant seem to add to it (does the ability to go away after a certain amount of time?)
But anyways the original post was by Brucifer and here is a bit of my list of my favourite albums/artists (too many to mention probably but this is a quick list of the top of my head)
    In no particular order

GWAR- albums for me at least its hard to pick my favourite but will go with either Pit of Horrors or Battle Maximus
Annihilator- King of the Kill and Refresh the Demon
    Kreator- Hordes of Chaos
    Overkill-- Grinding Wheel
    Katakylsm- Arms of Devastation
    Vader- Necropolis
    Behemoth- The Satanist

Then for my love of my local Edmonton and area scene

    Ravage Red-Unbreaking Will
    Wolfrik- Skeleton City
Tides of Kharon- Coins Upon Our Eyes
    Order of Chaos- Apocalypse Moon
    Striker- Armed to the Teeth
    Mothercraft- Pillars
    Moving Bodies- Lifestyle Choices

Hope you guys check some of these out and let me know what you think. Most of my local band list can be searched up on youtube.
I would like to hear some of your local area bands.

  • I did indeed start this thread originally. After a certain amount of months if no one adds comments, the Post can not be answered.

I like Poruchny's list of Metal albums: GWAR, Annihilator (Canadian Metal!!), Kreator, Overkill, Kataklysm (more Canadian Metal!!), Vader and Behemoth. All valid picks!!
I have never heard of any of the local bands from his list. Looks like I have some Heavy Metal homework ahead of me.

I'll add a few more of my favourites to this Post:

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules & Heaven And (classics that are 40 years old?)
Mercyful Fate - Melissa & Don't Break The Oath (the vocals will slay you)
Infernäl Mäjesty - None Shall Defy (Canadian thrash at it's best)
Dawn - Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)
Venom - Resurrection (Their very best album ever?)
Lost Horizon - Awakening The World (glorious Power Metal!!)
Slayer - Reign In Blood (the best thrash album ever?)
Accept - Objection Overrruled (best Heavy Metal album of 1993)

I'm hoping to see some more lists from CBR members. Let's go!!

  • For me, my favourite Venom albums would be Welcome to and Black Metal.
And speaking of Black Metal, Vader does a wicked cover on the album I mentioned previously (Necropolis).

I am going to add a few albums that I am looking forward to getting and listening to (some should be at home for me by the time I am done tour).

    Warbringer- Weapons Of Tomorrow
    Gwar- Bloods of Gods
    Kreator- Gods of Violence
    Vader- Solitude In Madness

I have listened to bits of the above on youtube and what not (expect for Vader, keeping that one a surprise) and must say the Warbringer and Kreator albums are awesome. Gwar is always one of my favourites so got to keep my collection complete (I miss Oderus). If you have the chance to see Gwar I highly recommend it, as long as you don't mind be covered in blood and other goo, haha, they have an awesome stage show with great theatrics. I also have a comic inspired shirt coming along side with Enormogantic Fail Gwar comic. However due to covid there is a delay with this shipping.

I got to see Slayer's last Edmonton show ever, twice. Haha. Always got to hand it to them for great shows and being one of the big four.

Thanks to brucifer for the list, there's a few on there I will definitely check out
