  • Downing a Don De Dieu right now. Unibroue is my favorite brewery. Any beer they put out is outstanding. What about everyone else?

  • Love beer! My favorite use to be Belle Vue Kriek (lambic cherry beer), but it's no longer shipped to North America as it is made in Belgium. Crying or Very sad

Yeah, It's hard when your favorites are foreign. I just finished off a bottle of Duvel. It's made in Belgium but I didn't find it to be worth the price. $12.00 for a bottle is a little steep especially when I think it tastes like a skunky budweiser.

Have you tried any Chimay? I like the blue label one but shy away from the red label. Is there anything local to you that I should be looking out for?

  • No, I haven't tried any Chimay beers before, I'll have to look for them next time I go to the liquor store.

I like the microbreweries, but we don't have that many compared to the US. Any good microbreweries around you?

As for local beers, Grasshopper Wheat Ale is a really good beer brewed by Big Rock Brewery.
Rickards White another beer that I enjoy, is brewed by Molson Canadian, but is actually Blue Moon Belgian White in the US.

  • Flat Earth Brewing company is a microbrewery right in St. Paul. The only beer they put out that I really like is the Mummy train Pumpkin Ale. It's a seasonal though and really hard to come by.

Surly is another local one but I don't really get into their beers. They use a lot of hops and that's not for me. If you really like hops the Surly Furious would be a good one for you.

  • Believe me when I heard people were getting $400 a bottle on ebay I was tempted...just think of all the comics I could buy. Laughing

I'm not into the strong hops beers either.
I'm really into the dark malt beers, the darker the better.
A seasonal beer I tried this past xmas was LEINENKUGELS SNOWDRIFT VANILLA PORTER, hints of coffee , vanilla and malt from the US really good. Another beer that I actually stock in my fridge is Moose Drool Stout that comes out of Montana, my wife says it taste like mud, but I like it..
Right now I have Dos Equis Ambar and Lager, Sol, Tecate, Stella Artois and the above beers in my fridge.
I'm heading to Montana for the 4th so I'll be able to re-stock the ol' beer fridge Dancing

  • Some Canadian Beers I like are Sleemans Honey Browns Ale out of Ontario.
Rickards Red and Brown out of Alberta,
I pretty much will try any beer as long as it's cold Wink
Whenever I travel I always try the local brews that I normally wouldn't get back home.

  • Love it. I always made a point of at least trying a beer in all the countries I visited while in the Navy. Also went on tours at Carlsberg, Denmark and Tsingtao breweries in Quindao, China.

Here at home I'm lucky that there's tons of great craft breweries around.
