- So I received the following message from a user this morning:
Gronicus said: January 18, 2013 3:00 a.m. - I tried 25 times to work your %^$#$# registration. Why can you not tell me where the registration is going wrong? To which I replied:
dough boy said: January 18, 2013 7:25 a.m. - Hmmm...I will look into providing error controls next to items with problems. The only things required are those with a *. Did you choose an Avatar?
We had 6 people register overnight so if you were one of them please disregard this message. Now I thought I was pretty nice, very cordial, and offering to make the registration process easier would benefit everyone. I could be wrong though. Maybe I was rude? Here is their response:
Gronicus said: January 18, 2013 11:38 a.m. - It is really a moot point. There are so many web sites, even for Golden Age comic books, that I am convinced that you are really not interested in catching me, and an untold number of others, with such lame conditions on your site. I have placed you on a digital -list which prevents anything relating to your site from even showing up in a browser. You are really not that important and as Colbert would say, you are "dead to me".
There is a growing list of web sites for people who are no longer going to accept stupid web-designer tricks (Letterman) and I have placed your URL on it with referrals to better sites. You get one shot in this world and you didn't make it. So now I am not sure what to make of everything. Apparently I have offended this person to the nth degree to have them put ComicBookRealm.com on a "digital -list" and refer people to other sites (it would be cool to know what this list of web sites is as there are several I would like to add myself). But alas, I think we lost this person as a potential member. So to not leave things hanging between us I made sure we were on the same page and sent the following reply:
dough boy said: January 18, 2013 12:45 p.m. - I am not sure which of the following you are referring to as "lame conditions" in order to register?
First Name Last Name Country E-mail Address User Name Password Password (again) Security Question Security Answer Avatar Captcha
I am sorry that apparently you are to stupid to figure it out. With over 26,000+ registrations and a lot of them little old ladies maybe you should put yourself on the "digital stupid-list" (see what I did there). Apparently you think you are 's gift to Internet users, but if it takes more than 2 attempts to register I really worry about if you would be able to use the rest of the site (i.e. search) anyways.
I wish you luck in your endeavor's to "destupidify" the Internet.
PS - I have posted our conversation for posterity just in case you think you can control how our conversation actually went

- You should have replied, "I'm sorry, I see the problem now. You forgot to fill out the invisible fields that are required. Please send me this info and I'll set your account up personally: Social Security #, Paypal ID and password, and a valid credit card # [don't forget the code on the back!]. Please accept my apologies and please don't put me on the -list of websites."

labria4 said: Well Dough Boy, how does it feel to have an arch enemy? Eh. You win some and you lose some. I like to think I am pretty easy going so very little irks me. I know that CBR.com cannot be all things to all people. Of course I am sure that this person will do whatever they can to spread ill will around the Internet about the site, but hopefully people might see this and see it is unfounded. I believe I go out of my way to accommodate all suggestions and feedback.
But I am serious when I say I would like to know what this website is the person mentioned.Favorite Quote: "You're not just some guy in a bat costume are you? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! - Justice League #1, 2011" Hunting for (mainly reprints/variants) - Please help! - See My Profile

- what a jerk!!! It's probably better that this guy is not on this site, he sounds like a problem causer! Good for you DB on showing him up! I do not think this site needs people on it like that. Everyone on this site is very nice and helpful!

- While that person may be a big jerk (I think that's plain to see) among other things, I really don't see why it's necessary to post the website's business private dealings with the users. If I had a beef with the website, I surely wouldn't expect everything to be made public, unless it really affected the public.
Please don't take offense DB, I think CBR is awesome and actually have to force myself to stay away because it's so addicting (I fail in that regard way too much). I just think this is something that the admin/moderator team takes care of and doesn't need to be spread beyond that. Just be thankful you dodged a bullet with Mr. Big Jerk and you can now spend more time tending to MY needs!

- No offense taken. I thought about it but decided that to make sure the story is accurately reported I would have to be forthcoming. They said they posted ComicBookRealm on a website so who knows what else was posted. They could post anything they wanted and there wouldn't be a record of what happened.

- HAHAHAHAHAAAHA, ....
Wow DB, I actually feel sorry for you that you have to deal with like that on a daily basis (or even if it isnt a daily basis, having to deal with that ever is ridiculous).
Also, just so you know, im not that smart, and I was able to register just fine, so theres always that. I was even easily able to find those hidden fields where I had to give you my credit card and social security number.
