  • Applebees is great. Last year they even had a troop of Boy Scouts at the door welcoming and saluting. And the meals were full meals and great, only pay for drinks.

Tried to go to Golden Corral on Monday last year. LOL. There were maybe 350 people in line waiting.

Oh and Lowes and Home Depot give 10% off to military (active & retired) all year.

  • We were at Applebees also. My wife was filling in at work, so we got there right about 5:15 and there was only a 10 minute wait. Very welcoming staff and the place was decorated to the hilt. Since I can no longer fit in my uniform Embarassed I wore my Marine / Purple Heart hat and a flag shirt. Applebees even had a table with white linen set and a candle for MIA/POWs. I had the fried shrimp. Soooo many wonderful shrimp I had to bring half home!

Really meant a lot to me. I left the Marines at the point where support of Viet Nam was lowest and protests the greatest, summer of '69. I flew home in uniform with my medals, and at the airport protesters spat on me and called me a murderer. That affected me so much when I got home I gave away all my uniforms.

Fortunately, fifteeen years later I went into the Navy reserves and was able to serve another 19 years and through another war.

Hats off to Applebees. They have earned my deep respect and my business. A note to anyone that is a veteran or not - visit them and let them know how much you appreciate their support of our troops.

Not sure if I will try for Golden Corral on Monday... Think
