  • Share your Halloween Traditions ..... Do you go trick or treating? Do you decorate?

  • Halloween is just another day that blends into any other. I did once have an awesome evening dressing up when we this American that moved to my school held a party, but we didn't go trick or treating or anything - people would have answered the door and said 'what the f**k do you want?'.

What about you? Do you get into the spirit? Or any kids that make it obligatory?

  • I personally do not care for it I think it is pointless. I enjoyed it when I was a kid for several years but it gets old fast. I like to think of myself as a kid but Halloween is rather pointless. I have kids so I try and give them the best Halloween without going overboard. We do not decorate I would but the decorations are so expensive and when they all go on sale after Halloween I am not usually in a position to go out and just buy stuff for next year, plus I have limited storage. My house is not bad but I lack storage space and I prefer not to store things in my garage or shed that I really don't need.

So for the kids yes as best I can. I have issues with paying a lot of money for kids costumes they wear for 3 hours if that and then it is really worthless.

  • We always decorate. No more trick or treating, the younger kids go with their parents. A couple years ago her Mom was living with us (in process of dying) and they took her trick & treating, in a partial costume due to being in a wheelchair. At that time she had about the mentality of a 6 yr old. Her first time and she had a ball.

This year nada because we are visiting family in Baltimore area.
The joy is in the journey, not just the destination.

  • I loooooove Halloween!!! As you can see by my profile pic, I did the makeup myself and costume as well. I am doing something very similar this year but in a steampunk style. My friend made his own stormtrooper costume. I ususally go to a friends party or have a haunted house. I no longer do the haunted house anymore because older kids would come and we found that most of them were unpleasant to put it nicely.

  • I like Halloween, but as my kids are too young to do the kind of decorating I'd like to do, I'm stuck with the cutsie stuff (which I REALLY don't care for). Maybe in a few years, I can watch some horror flicks with the kids without too many nightmares.

  • Try not to scare them! Which horror flicks do you watch?
  • Posted: October 21, 2011 10:27:38 pm
  • I don't try to scare them, but when one gets scared of "Batman The Animated Series" it doesn't leave much for Halloween viewing. d'oh! As far as what I watch after the kids go to bed, I guess it depends on what's playing on the various TV stations. I guess I'm drawn more to monster flicks than slasher films though.

  • Hmm well its funny the things that scared me no longer do and when I see those movies now I am like those are not scary at all. Have you ever seen Insidious? That is a freaky movie or the Orphan that was crazy as well.

Monster movies ....which ones are on your list?
