- My neurologist has said that the only way to eliminate my epilepsy is through a procedure called an Amygdalohippocampectomy. I'm apparently of the rare type that remains completely conscious throughout my seizures, and let me assure you ......they HURT.
Anyway....with the aforementioned procedure, my seizures can be eliminated. However, this would essentially make me a zombie. I'm legitimately looking for outside, impartial opinions here. I'm so scared of not being myself anymore.....but at the same time I'm also SO tired of having seizures 5 or 6 or 7 times a daysince I was 12.....I'm 27 now. EVERY DAY. What would you do?)
I know this may seem an odd thing to ask on a forum, but I really don't have anyone else to ask what they think.

- Have you tried going to a chiropractor? Not sure if it would help, but I would exhaust all avenues first.
Second "professional" opinions are never a bad thing and would be recommended. But, personally if I had done all of this I would give it a try.Favorite Quote: "You're not just some guy in a bat costume are you? - I would give anything a try if there was a chance to help me. You have to judge carefully but if there is no reward without risk.
If you do not try then you may always regret it. If you try and fail at least you tried.
If I personally was in your situation where something like this dictated how I lived my life I would fight back for it. I am not a professional and my advice should not be taken as such.
Will you for sure be a "Zombie"?
Considering the side effects have you tried Natural doctors that can help?

- have you tried all other options?
if it was me i would definitely ask other neurologists or other professionals for their opinion before a procedure of this magnitude

- I also have seizures, but nowhere near the severity or the frequency you do. I managed to stay conscious for only one seizure, and you're right. They do hurt! I hope you can find something that works for you.
Good luck!

- I've decided to start looking at it like this. I'm not going to have the procedure. I've already dealt with epilepsy for 15 years, I should be able to do it for the estimated 10-12 more. I'm going to be me for as long as I can be me. Thanks for the support everyone, I was just in a weird place last night. Thanks again everyone.

- Not a problem. I would serious consider seeing a Naturalpathic Doctor though, a lot of Natural medicines and things can have cures and ways to put serious symptoms off to the side. If you find the right doctor is can make a world of difference.
A lot of people think Natural doctors are quacks but many years ago they could cure a lot of ailments with natural ways.
