Canuck said:Really sad news, another 80's legend gone. His time at Marvel are the comics I enjoyed the most. Mark Waid has confirmed the news that comic book writer, editor, editor-in-chief and publisher, Jim Shooter, has died this week at the age of 73, saying "I've just received word that Jim Shooter passed away of esophageal cancer, which he's been battling for some time".

I agree! His time at Marvel was my favourite, as well as Valiant! Such sad news. He is/was one of my absolute favourites in the industry. I can't express how big of a fan I am. He may have made a lot of enemies, but I think he did it all for the betterment of the industry. I was hoping, so much, to see him at an event. Very crappy news!
As an aside, has anyone checked out his Defiant stuff? I've always been curious about it.

- This is so sad. Hopefully his website, chock full of legendary stories from his long history in the business is still up. He entered the business early enough to know the titans (Kirby, Lee, Ditko and more), fixed Marvel up as EIC, and started (brilliantly) Valiant, Defiant and Broadway Comics. All were done in by money reasons, Valiant a tragic betrayal, but he was a true professional, and everyone who enjoys comics owes him a debt of gratitude. To answer your question, Yoshi, I have all or almost all of his Defiant and Broadway comics and all of them are fantastic, as one would come to expect from Shooter.
