- It could be that image was trying to do this in order to curb the growing speculator market. Perhaps, remembering the last crash that was created by the market, they thought that if they limited printings to just one, people would order more initially, curbing the growth of the secondary market somewhat, and potentially avoiding a foreseeable crash.
The rise in great independents lately has really created an enhanced speculator market that is much bigger now than usual. Books like Saga, Panzerfaust, Walking Dead, Thief of Thieves, etc have prices shooting through the roof in less than a year. Potentially, this could lead to another crash like in the 90s...
Its possible that Image was trying to head this off before it happened, as responsible publishers....
