Flavius and his mate Helene were house cats that were transformed into humanoid Cats by the kind wizard Ebrok. Eventually a group of wizards including Ebrok, Orann and Belasco banished Flavius, Helene and their descendents to the Land Within in fear that they would become a threat to humanity. Helene and Flavius used magic to come back to earth and created the first Tigra and first Balkatar who spawned a second group of Cat People.

Flavius unleashed a strain of the plague commonly known as the Black Death when he flung a beaker containing it at Ebrok's killer Orann.
