What do you suppose would happen if the "first" visitors from outer space decided to land in a swamp smack dab in the middle of "redneckville".  They would probably expect to be greated cordially, treated to a great meal, and become like royalty right?  What if the first greeter from Earth was a bass-ackwards inbred redneck?

Humpty Dumpty (which bears no resemblance to the fairy tale) is just such a story.  The nuts and bolts of it are that Pervis (the greeter discribed above) happens to come across an alien space ship and instead of welcoming them with open arms he decides to kill all of them except the female.  Since he has never been with a woman (and understandably so would never ever be with one) he decides to make her his slave.

As we all know if you do not wrap-it before you tap-it sooner or later you are going to have a "baby".  This baby becomes known as Humpty Dumpty and he comes with a few "powers".  Imagine Silar from "Heroes" but instead of being able to just borrow the powers at will, he has to bite the object first.  If Humpty Dumpty wants to fly, just eat a bat.  You get the picture.  This little guy can adapt with the best of them.

Even though the premise is a little sordid, overall it was an enjoyable read.  But the "story" isn't the best thing about the book.  It is by far the art.  I honestly can say I have never seen such beautiful art.  You almost don't even need the written text as the art can stand alone and tell the story.

I have heard that the movie rights have potentially been picked up...and if so the lower print run (estimated to be only 650 copies) could drive additional printings with a first print commanding a premium.  Regardless, I would love to see more art work by Jordan Jordanov.

Check and see if your LCS has a copy for you, if not you can find them on Amazon, although at almost full price.

  • is it bad that i think this sounds interesting? lol the story sounds so messed up but the idea of aliens visiting earth and seeing rednecks as the first "intelligent life" haha that would be the fun part. i will probably read it.

    • I was a little skeptical too...I am not really a "horror" type person, but the art work as stated was beautiful (said in my Jim Cary voice)
