I have never really been into mystery/thriller/horror comics. I tried reading the latest version of House of Mystery from Vertigo, but only made it 3 issues before I lost interest.
Attempt #2 is The Unknown by Boom Studios. I must preface that it is a little different reading a comic in a PDF file versus reading it "live", but it is nice in that there are no distrations.
I did not read volume 1 of this title, so I have nothing to base my review on this time. I am going to assume that this is a continuation of that mini-series as they do not do a lot of character development in this one.
I must say that I was impressed and I was hooked from the beginning. Every panel seems to draw you in deeper, making you want to figure out what is going on. Mark Waid's writing is very tight and everything flowed well.
I do think that the thing that really peaked my interest was the Cover B by Alexander Stojanov. I am not sure what it is about it, but it made me want to read this book. I was hoping that he was the overall artist on the book, but it is Minick Oosterveer and he did not do too bad of a job either. I am going to have to check out and see what other work Alexander has done.
Here is Cover B:
