Giving Back to Kids

As you are likely aware about a month ago we released our Exclusive Amazing Spider-Man #1 cover.  We had always decided that we would destroy a large portion of the leftovers for a few reasons:

  1. We do not want to have to store them
  2. We do not want to flood the market with them
  3. We want to increase the value of the book for those that have supported us

After careful consideration however, we found a solution that solves all of the above AND has an added benefit as well...supporting kids!

Enter ComicBooks for Kids!

ComicBooks for Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide kid friendly comic books to children in hospitals and cancer centers. These kids are having a tough go of it and usually have a lot of down time.  What better way to occupy that downtime than by reading and getting hooked on comic books (hopefully)!

We have provided a contribution of 1,400 of the Regular Variant Cover and might even do more later (we are discussing the Virgin Variants as well).  Here is where the comics have gone:

  • 280 to Children's Mercy Hospital (Kansas City, MO)
  • 280 to Children's Mercy Hospital (Overland Park, KS)
  • 280 to Children's Hospital (Los Angeles, CA)
  • 280 to Shodair's Children's Hospital (Helena, MT)
  • 280 to ComicBooks for Kids

The last 280 is for them to hand out on their own in smaller quantities over time.  We also covered the shipping for each case!

If you have not heard about ComicBooks for Kids we highly recommend that you head over to their website to read up on what they are doing and how you can help.  If you have comics that you do not want anymore that are still in decent shape and are kid friendly donate them to a kid!

  • That is an absolutely great idea! It would've been a shame to just shred them and I think it's a smarter solution. I've always supported this site but I already go over my budget for books as it is and wasn't able to grab one myself, though I had wanted to. It warms my icy heart to know that you are doing this. Those kids deserve it and that kind of kindness is what the world needs, especially with how crazy and negative things can be. You sir are and inspiration!
