What could be worth standing in this line for?

Well we have all heard this phrase before...but for me today I litterally thing that I experienced it.

Have you ahve braved Black Friday? (For those unintiated that would be the day after Thanksgiving).  I have done it a couple of times and know well enough to get there early (often several hours of waiting in freezing weather).

The Mrs. and I have had a Wii since Thanksgiving last year (no I did not wait in line for it...my sister just happened to be at Best Buy when they got a shipment in so she got me one).  We were going to get one anyways...we just thought we would wait until March when Mario Kart came out thinking they would be less scarce (this is definetly not the case).

Back in February I heard about a device coming out for the Wii called Wii Fit.  I sent the link to my wife and she proclaimed that she wanted one.  I thought it was a novel idea and that it would be widely available as I didn't see it being popular. (Boy was I wrong).

Needless to say all I have heard the last few weeks is "I want a Wii Fit, I want a Wii Fit".  Well last Friday I called every store that we would be driving past on our way home from celebrating our anniversary (which is today).  They all had none.  The last store I called said to check the Sunday paper for their ad.

Thinking this was an inside tip I got up early this morning and checked...no mention.  I then checked the other electronic stores, i.e. Circuity City, Walmart, and Best Buy.  Best Buy not only had it listed in their circular, but the had a "minimum of 10 per store".  I then went and woke the wife up and told her that if she wanted one we would need to get there about 8:45am (the store opens at 10am).

She thought I was crazy but went along.  When we got there we ended up being #8 in line with almost 1.5 hours to wait.  She had no clue.  I passed the time by reading on my phone while she and Lexi went to Walmart across the parking lot.

When time got closer the staff came out to tell us they had 37 Wii Fits and 45 Wii's.  We went ahead and got 2 Wii Fits (1 for us and 1 for my sister).  We were nice and did not get 2 additional Wii's to try and scalp.

But anyways when the store opened there were about 50 people in line IN JUNE!  For those that have not seen the viral video of the Fit...here you go.

    • I don't think the video really has anything to do with how the Fit works, etc.

I think you missed the point of the video. Wink

  • Happy anniversary! My 8th is next Monday (or Tuesday, better find out for sure). I don't think we'll be standing in line for anything.
