Ok...I don't normally go grocery shopping.
I work long hours and it is often easier for the Mrs. to get stuff. Well the other night she asked me if I would get some stuff to make chili on the way home.
I bought some ground turkey (cheaper than ground beef), knock off tomato sauce, and knock off chili seasonings.
When I got home the Mrs. yelled at me saying she understands wanting to save some money...but there are some things you cannot scrimp on. I told her that the chili seasoning was $.50 a packet vs $1.09 for Williams. I mean $.69 is $.69 right?
She is making fun of me and I tell her everything will be just fine. I brown the 2 pounds of meat and add the sauce, beans, and water. I add the seasonings and notice that it does not seem as "dark" as normal.
I then read the back of the packet and it says it is only for 1 pound of meat. Williams is for 2 pounds of meat. So when you think you are saving $.69 you are actually only saving $.09 because you need 2 packages of the knock off.
I guess moral of the story is to make sure you read the package before you try to save money...remember...you get what you pay for!
