Okay, so I am not a huge DC fan. So here is what I propose... I will trade DC and Indies for Marvel. I will give you DOUBLE the value of the Marvel I want from your list. Then you can go to my Double Value Trade or 4 Sale list and pick double the value of the comic I selected. Then we both pay shipping for our package going out. It's a Win Win!

Ever since I was a teenager I had always dreamed of the day of sharing my love for comics with my son. I always intended to give my collection to him when he was ready. As I have stated in a previous blog, my teenage collection went missing when I left home. Out of all the things I lost while gone, the comics were the things I grieved the most becuase I still had my heart set on giving them to my name sake.

Today my son is 6 years old. I bought him his first comic last year. (you can see his collection on my profile under GV). He is my name sake, George Alfred Lynch V. I was so excited when he showed interest. I didn't have a collection to pass on, but I was excited to get him a subscrition.

Well, with one subsctiption came another and another. Then I got a few for myself. Next thing I know I am on Ebay building my collection back up and getting some of those loved comic book issues from my childhood once again. All the while, still hoping to have that connection with my little guy.

"Vintage"

So I am still new to the internet era when it comes to buy comics. Between me and you guys... I just spent about $250 on ebay beefing up my collection. Found lots of great deals and got some of the comics that I cherished as a teenager like Cable #1 and Deadpool The Circle Chase #1. I remember picking those off the store shelf! Internet buying has me a bit disapointed at the moment.

So, I made an offer on a lot of 10 "vintage" comics. The seller had 1 group pic and I could see that there was quite a bit of ware... I was thinking between fair and good (I'm on comic grader). Well, let's just say everyone's definition of "vintage" may not be the same.

Today the packages started rolling in. I got 6 packages today. The first one I open is the "Vintage" pack. Ugh.... I wanted to cry! It literally looked like someone had used this stack as a seat cushion and was constantly shifting their weight to get comfortable! (Okay, I put a little too much thought into that! lol). A few of the comics had a pretty good value of around $12. There wasn't one that was under $4. I graded most as good... had one that was a .5.

Childhood Dreams or Mid-Life Crisis?

I loved collecting comics! I was the kid that got all my friends into them. I would hound our local store looking for my favorites.

I guess it all started with a guy named Steve. Steve came to live with us when I was a kid. He must have been 18 or 19 years old. He had a box that would have been worth a small (or large) fortune today. I instantly fell in love. Before Steve decided to move on, he offered his entire collection to me... for a small fee of course. I think it was $100. A lot of money for a kid like me. Well, Mom said no and that day I was determined to have a collection.

My most valued was an X-Men. I am not sure which # but I remember it had Magneto and Colosuss on the front. At the time it was worth about $125. I was so proud of that comic. X-Men were always my favorite.
