- With what appears to be a (lame?) version of Doomsday in the Dawn of Justice trailer, will the first full appearance become hot again?

- Yeah I wouldn't expect it jump to a $100 level by any means. I remember how much crazy people were going for superman 75 back in the day and now you can get it for $10.
I still grabbed MoS 18 for nostalgic purposes.

- I think there were loads of these printed as it tied into the "Death of Superman" story-line and also from what I've seen, books tend to peak PRIOR to a movie release not after . . . it probably depends on whether or not the character will have some form of future in the movies?

- Not to hijack the thread but here is a link to an interesting conversation on the print run of NM 98. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7163164&fpart=1
Rapha1978 said: It seems to have been going up since December 2015, right after the third trailer was released with the footage of Doomsday. Also have you guys checked the auction sites? It's hard to even find one under $25 right now. Just a year or two ago that book could be had for less than $5 and was thrown in dollar bins most of the time. Not sure what the print run was but I will say this, I was collecting/reading Superman at the time it was published and Man of Steel was the least popular of the four titles he appeared in. The art was subpar and during the 90s books with good art were selling better. When DC ran the Death of Superman storyline they didn't say anything or hint that they were killing off the character. No one knew that was coming when MOS #18 hit the stands. The details started to leak toward the very end of that storyline. We just knew that each issue would continue into the other three books, and the only thing being said was that "Doomsday was going to be the most powerful villain Superman ever faced", so it sort of went under the radar for the first few months. And anyone that was collecting at the time will remember that Superman books were suffering in sales which was why they decided to even make that decision. Once they killed Superman in issue #75 I remember everyone was grabbing it up and MOS #18 and at one time this issue was once going for around $75-100.
Now New Mutants #98 had a much higher print run I'm sure. Rob Liefeld at the time was beginning to become a very hot item. The last three issues of New Mutants (98-100) were selling off the shelves as soon as they hit stands and issue 100 even went through two printings, which at the time brought more hype for when X-Force was being released. If anything I would think that the newsstand version of NM #98 is probably more rare and had less of a print run.

- Rapha1978, you do make a good argument . . . Man of Steel was definitely less popular (which was saying a lot since none of the titles were that popular) than the rest . . . anyone have any kind of idea on the print run? I tried checking Omichron, but it doesn't go back that far. Where else can one check?
